BiographyDavid Lamar Givens was born in Youngstown, Ohio on Aug. 16, 1980 � David�s brother, Jesse, played football at Yale �Rated the 53rd best player nationally by the Chicago Sun-Times and 59th best player by The Sporting News at Humble (Tex.) High � Rated one of top 100 players nationally by Dallas Morning News � USA Today honorable mention all-american pick � Earned three letters in football while playing eight different positions � Captain of team as a senior � Split time during the 1997 season between wide receiver (13 catches for 255 yards and four touchdowns), quarterback (21 of 52 for 337 yards and two touchdowns) and running back (71 carries for 331 yards and four touchdowns) � Helped his team to a 9-2 record and second-straight district championship � Compiled 1,448 all-purpose yards as junior (465 yards and five scores rushing, 18 catches for 253 and three touchdowns, six of seven passing for 136 and two touchdowns, 317 kick return yards and 245 punt return yards) � Two-time all-state, all-city and all-league pick � Earned four letters in track (sprint and weight events) and earned team MVP honors as senior � Majored in design at Notre Dame.
